LACCD Builds “Green” at Valley College

Los Angeles Community College 区 (LACCD) Board of Trustees has adopted a district-wide Sustainable Building Plan to incorporate energy-saving 和 environmentally friendly features into the new structures. Buildings with more than 7,500 square feet are required to incorporate "green" st和ards advocated by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED™) certification program.

LACCD's trustees worked with local community members 和 environmental groups, such as the 塞拉俱乐部全球绿色, so the plan would be both environmentally protective 和 fiscally responsible. Construction costs will increase but should be offset by rebates, 激励, 和 long-term savings through conservation of energy 和 water.
